Aristotle / The document inventory

Valentin Rose, Aristotelis qui ferebantur librorum fragmenta, Leipzig: Teubner, 1886, LVI. Epistolae, nos. 651–670

Each inventory follows the numbering of an identified edition. “Complete” refers to that edition and document type; it does not claim to cover every surviving document by the philosopher.

Partial inventory for this edition · 20 indexed entries

All twenty units of Rose’s Letters section are identified here with modern subject descriptions. These are the same references 651–670 as in the fragment inventory, not twenty additional documents. They combine quotations, transmitted letters and testimonies, sometimes several under one number; they cannot reconstruct a complete correspondence. Lost collections, pseudepigraphic traditions and their Arabic or medieval continuations require separate editions. No addressee or date is supplied by conjecture.
