Letters & fragments
Each inventory follows the numbering of an identified edition. “Complete” refers to that edition and document type; it does not claim to cover every surviving document by the philosopher.
The coverage labels distinguish fully indexed corpora from lists that remain partial.
W. A. Oldfather (1928): Epictetus, Fragments 1–36, with 10a, 28a and 28b
Complete inventory for this editionAll 39 numbered headings actually present in Oldfather’s fragment section, including the added lettered entries. Fragments 29–36 belong to his “Doubtful and spurious” section and are marked as disputed. The genuine group is transmitted through other authors, not an autograph by Epictetus. Oldfather excludes many sayings printed in earlier gnomologies; this inventory follows his stated scope and does not silently reincorporate them.
