Valentin Rose, Aristotelis qui ferebantur librorum fragmenta, Leipzig: Teubner, 1886, nos. 1–680
Each inventory follows the numbering of an identified edition. “Complete” refers to that edition and document type; it does not claim to cover every surviving document by the philosopher.
Complete inventory for this edition · 680 indexed entries
Complete inventory of Rose’s 680 numbered units (1886): 1–675 in the main text, followed by 676–680 in the Appendix dubiorum. One unit can contain several quotations, testimonies or subfragments; the numbers therefore count neither works nor unique quotations. Some numbers share a printed passage. Numerical titles are editorial reference labels, not ancient titles or translations of the fragments. Rose regarded these writings collectively as pseudepigraphic; that judgment is not a modern verdict on every attribution. Ross, Gigon and later discoveries define different corpora. The unnumbered Life of Aristotle following the appendix is excluded.
